About Me

1I am a New York-bred transplanted Californian who is now stuck on Long Island.

I've lived in New York since birth except from 1993-2006 when I lived in California. I should have never left... California, that is.

Clippers: Getting Ready

Some opinions as I get ready for the 2005-2006 season.
And I’ve been ready since The Draft.

1)  Yaroslav Korolev?
This pick has shaken my confidence in Mike Dunleavy.
(I’m getting the feeling, via press reports, that Dunleavy carries as much weight as
GM Elgin Baylor when it comes to personnel decisions.)
Maybe everything will turn out all right, but wasn’t there a more familiar player
that would have been a better lottery pick?  I was high on Francisco Garcia,
but I would have been happy with Danny Granger or some others.

2) Daniel Ewing
I’m happier with this pick.
Anything that turns the Clippers into Duke West isn’t really a problem for me.
Mike Dunleavy, Jr., anyone?  And Shane.   Come home, Shane.

3)  Free agent signing?
OK, I’m just gonna throw it out there.  Jalen Rose.
A decent veteran scorer.  Has an ETO according to NBA.com.
I have a feeling he’d much rather be in L.A. than Toronto.
How do you feel?

I’m sorry to see Bobby Simmons go.
Yet another Clippers Castoff we’ll have to keep our eyes on.
However, I’m not sure he was worth the money he signed for.

Considering the Korolev pick, I’d like to see some front office activity before the season begins.  I’ll have to investigate what’s happening in Vegas.  I’m with those who feel Long Beach was a better venue than Vegas, but I’m just being a geographic snob;
I don’t know any of the business reasons for the move.

The Clippers need to make moves while the Lakers are down.
They need to keep injuries down to a minimum.
Corey needs to play smart basketball.
Marco needs to be re-signed.
Shaun needs to demonstrate his potential.

Ciao for now!
Mike
